Reflection

Now it's time to come out and say what I've learned and come to a conclusion on my year as an intern. First off, I want to say how nervous I was the first day. As it was, I had no idea what to expect from the students or my mentor. But as the year went on I have become less nervous and have been able to connect with the students. I've learned what it really means to "teach". That is taking care of students and teaching them good manners, building up their tension span all while also teaching them how to read, write, do math, oh and did I mention geography. To be a teacher you really must have a passion, especially for the students. I am definitely more enthusiastic to become a teacher. Sometimes I even imagine myself having my own classroom with students, doing my best to make topics interesting to catch their attention. Although, I am planning to go to third world countries and teach out there and to know that I would be able to make a difference in their lives is incredible. I hope to have brought light to their classroom, to have helped them on their path.

Knowing this is my last week and that I will probably never see my kids is hard. I'm going to miss them, but I know God will be with them and that they have a great future ahead of them in this school! These are a unique and amazing bunch of kids and I hope that this won't be the last time to see them.
